Wow this was a great experience! Our host started off with a lot of great history and explanation about how that dish of paella came to be. Then we were... read more able to move into three different areas of preparation. The first preparation was for the tapa, and we got to make a very unique starter on bread with garlic, tomato, olive oil, cheese and jamon. Next, we got to prepare all of the ingredients for the sangria. Finally, after enjoying our tapa and learning a little bit more about the main ingredients for the paella, we got to work as a team to prepare all of the ingredients, and then actually begin to cook the meal. As a team we all got to take turns with different steps in the preparation process. It was really cool to watch it all come together and see this amazing dish being created from start to finish. Once we got everything in the pan and turned the heat up, it was time to wait for the dish to be completely cooked. This took about 20 minutes or so, and we were able to enjoy the delicious sangria that we prepared while we waited for the main course to be ready. Finally, the moment of truth! Our host dished out the delicious paella for us, and we got to enjoy it with the sangria as a team. It was a wonderful experience, with much knowledge shared, and an opportunity to make new friends as you work together as a team to create this authentic meal!

Initially I registered for another paella cooking class, but it was cancelled a day before the class. I looked online and and was glad that i managed to find this... read more class. It was an excellent class! Anna is a very passionate and articulate teacher, and she shared with us all about Spanish cooking. She prepared a drink Sangria with red wine, a dessert crema catalana ( which involves a blow torch), and chicken, prawn and green bean paella. As there was one participant which was vegetarian, we also had a smaller pan of artichoke paella which was delicious. (so its good that you go with a vegeterian! Haha) This class is interactive as for each step Anna would demonstrate and then someone could volunteer to take over. At the end of the class I purchased the wooden spoons we ate with :) I saw that they also had "pimento la vera" and saffron for purchase, but I had already got that on my trip to Granada, a few
